Criminal Solicitor – Coventry or Banbury (2 PQE / Newly Qualified)

We are recruiting on behalf of a respected law firm with offices in Coventry and Banbury. They are seeking an ambitious Criminal Solicitor to join their expanding Crime Department. While ideally looking for candidates with 2 years PQE, they are also open to newly qualified Solicitors.

This role offers the opportunity to manage your own caseload, assist the Head of Department with complex matters, and represent clients in court and at police stations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as an advocate in court across a wide range of criminal cases.
• Prepare cases for Crown Court and represent clients at police stations.
• Act as a Duty Solicitor when required.
• Manage a full and varied caseload efficiently.
• Travel between offices, courts, and police stations as necessary.
• Promote growth of your caseload through your own work, reputation, and contacts.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Criminal Law through continuing professional development.

The Ideal Candidate:

• 2 years PQE as a Qualified Duty Criminal Solicitor (newly qualified candidates also considered).
• Strong case and time management, organisational, and communication skills.
• Polite, patient, and professional manner.
• Proficiency in IT and case management systems.
• Ability to work within office targets, budgets, and billing requirements.
• Knowledge of Law Society professional requirements and Office Manual compliance.
• Higher Rights of Audience desirable but not essential.
