Criminal Solicitor – Liverpool 

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a Legal 500 law firm based in the heart of Liverpool. They are family-friendly, flexible, and committed to helping all staff reach their full potential. The firm is looking to grow their highly regarded criminal team and invite candidates to join this exciting challenge.

About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with an enthusiastic, committed, and tenacious team, managing their own busy caseload of criminal and POCA matters from instruction to conclusion. Responsibilities

• Handle a mixed caseload of privately and publicly funded work
• Work on all types of criminal offences
• Advise and represent clients in the Magistrates Court
• Manage and run your full caseload, ensuring files are compliant
• Draft statements, client letters, and briefs for counsel
• Conduct client conferences in person and via video
• Instruct experts as required
• Represent clients at the police station and join the firm’s out-of-hours on-call rota
• Maintain high standards of professionalism and attention to detail

The Candidate

• Qualified solicitor with criminal law experience; police station accreditation essential, duty solicitor status preferred but not required
• Legal Aid supervisor or willing to obtain supervisor status
• Excellent communicator, able to explain complex matters clearly
• Highly organised, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Personable, professional, and client-focused
• Full, clean driving licence and access to a car
• Comfortable working both remotely and in the office
• POCA experience preferred but not essential
• Flexible to assist in other departments if needed
