Legal Analyst - Construction Advisory & Dispute


Salary negotiable

My client is one of the largest Law practices in the world, they currently operate 25 offices across 4 continents and their history can be traced back to the mid 1700's. They are looking to expand their team once again based in their Leeds office with the recruitment of a Legal Analyst to join their Construction team

Purpose of the legal analyst role:

To provide legal, analytical and administrative support to all levels of fee earner within the CAD team i.e., Partners, Senior Associates, Associates and Lawyers and to Legal PAs.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal analyst responsibilities may include (depending on the successful candidates' level of existing experience or time spent in the role at the firm):

* Engaging in all forms of dispute resolution which the CAD team operates in i.e., adjudication, arbitration, litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

* Document review - both manual and using bespoke review software platforms on which training will be provided.

* Document management - again, both manual and using electronic data rooms (internal and client-facing) taking responsibility for uploading, updating and general management of those systems.

* Assistance with Project Management.

* Drafting legal reports following document review.

* Drafting various types of legal documents.

* Drafting lists of issues to cover with witnesses.

* Assisting with witness statement taking, re-drafting and finalisation

Administrative duties:

* Assisting, if necessary, Legal PAs with maintaining the matter filing system (both paper and e-mail based): ensuring that all files are kept up to date at all times; setting-up and maintaining new filing systems; printing-off all matter related e-mails and ensuring paper copies are held on the appropriate file if required; archiving and retrieving files and other papers from storage as required.

* Assisting other members of the CAD team and staff throughout the firm with overflow work whenever possible.

* Collating and preparing information for meetings.

* Assisting, if necessary, Legal PAs with taking and relaying telephone and email messages from clients and intermediaries (ensuring that fee-earners receive those messages promptly, particularly if they are out of the office

Qualifications and Experience:

* Law, engineering, quantity surveying or other graduate (LPC or equivalent is not necessary)

* Administration experience in a busy environment is an advantage

* Experience of working in a law firm is an advantage

Professional/Technical Skills:

* Excellent organisational, communication and administrative skills

* Proven strong IT skills - skilled user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Excellent organisational skills with acute attention to detail

* Professional appearance and manner

* Flexible, proactive and able to use own initiative, requiring limited guidance


* Excellent interpersonal skills

* Willingness and enthusiasm to work with and support the entire CAD team

* A motivated self-starter who is a good team-player

* Must be flexible as overtime may be required at short notice
