Salary dependant on experience

My client is one of the largest Law practices in the world, they currently operate 25 offices across 4 continents and their history can be traced back to the mid 1700's. They are looking to expand their team once again based in Edinburgh with the successful recruitment of a Paralegal within their Energy team.

Purpose of the role:

To provide knowledge and practice development support to the Projects team, the Energy Sector globally and Energy Sector client relationship teams across the firm-wide network. The role will include maintaining internal knowledge management systems, monitoring and providing updates on procedure and legislative changes within the energy industry and undertaking various research tasks including drafting and assisting with research papers.

Knowledge Management

  • Uploading agreements and knowhow into a knowledge management system.
  • Liaising with fee earners to collect knowhow and maintain the internal knowledge management system.
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of team and sector intranet pages.
  • Assisting in creating and maintaining knowhow and report templates.
  • Providing legal research and assisting with the monitoring and tracking of legal, policy and industry developments that support the delivery of practice team, sector and client initiatives.

Practice Team, Sector and Client:

  • Assisting with the preparation of internal and client legal updates in the energy sector.
  • Horizon watching, monitoring, tracking and reporting on regulatory, policy and industry developments.
  • Supporting the Senior PDL on the development and maintenance of energy sector and client initiatives and assisting sector and client relationship teams.
  • Various research projects including drafting and assisting with research papers.

The Candidate:

  • Previous paralegal, legal or research experience and experience in the energy sector preferred.
  • Previous experience of document management systems, extranets and data site management advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to achieve deadlines and a proactive approach to workload and priorities.
  • Excellent research skills & attention to detail.
  • Pro active approach to identification of work to be done.
  • IT literate with a good knowledge and high degree of competency in the use of Microsoft Word.
