Job Description

My client is an award-winning practice with offices in both Scotland and North East England. They are specialist property experienced and act for thousands of private and commercial clients. We are looking for an experienced Senior Solicitor / Associate to join my clients growing team in the Perth office.

The role would be to assist clients with the sale and purchase of residential properties by providing the best advice for clients to achieve the best outcome for their property. To offer our services in relation to wills, powers of attorney, discharges of standard security, transfers of title, equity releases along with other private client matters and to cross-sell other services within the firm such as Financial Services.

The successful candidate will need to manage client expectations and ensure that good relationships are always maintained and assist with the day to day running and management of the branch along with developing and maintaining the firm's reputation within the local area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide advice to clients on offers received for their properties and take their instructions
  • To provide advice to clients in relation to what to offer for properties they wish to purchase and taking instructions
  • To guide clients through the sale and purchase process and make the process as straightforward as possible
  • To examine title deeds and report back to clients/lenders on any issues
  • Experience in dealing with residential missives
  • Experience in private client work including the preparation of wills and powers of attorney
  • Drafting legal documents
  • To act on behalf of lenders in relation to standard securities
  • Manage own workload and time management
  • Oversee conveyancing Paralegals
  • Oversee the running of the Property staff within the branch
  • Mentoring Trainee Solicitors and junior members of staff

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • LLB
  • Diploma in Legal Practice

Desirable

  • Notary Public

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to manage your own workload and work under little supervision
  • Very good organisational skills
  • Experience in private client work including the preparation of wills and powers of attorney

KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Previous experience of residential conveyancing
  • Previous experience in private client matters such as wills and powers of attorney
  • Must be 2-5 years PQE (other levels of experience will be considered)

APTITUDES

Essential

  • Ability to communicate with clients and offer advice
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Able to adapt to the business needs
