Compliance Executive

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Compliance Executive to join our law firm and support the delivery of effective compliance, risk management and regulatory processes across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in legal compliance within a professional services environment. You will work closely with the firm's compliance team, fee earners and senior management to help ensure the firm meets its regulatory and internal compliance obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the firm's day-to-day compliance and risk management activities.
- Support AML/KYC processes, including client due diligence, enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
- Assist with client and matter opening procedures and ensure required documentation is complete and up to date.
- Conduct sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening.
- Maintain accurate compliance records, registers and databases.
- Assist with conflict-of-interest checks and escalation of potential issues.
- Support the monitoring of regulatory and legislative developments relevant to the firm.
- Assist with internal compliance reviews, audits and risk assessments.
- Help prepare compliance reports, management information and audit documentation.
- Support the firm's anti-money laundering, data protection, financial crime and regulatory compliance procedures.
- Liaise with fee earners and internal teams to obtain outstanding compliance information.
- Escalate potential compliance breaches or concerns promptly to the appropriate senior member of the team.
- Assist with compliance training, updates and communications.
- Undertake general administrative duties within the compliance function as required.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Previous experience in a compliance, legal, financial services or professional services environment, or a strong academic/administrative background relevant to compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT and Microsoft Office skills.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Knowledge or experience of AML, KYC, CDD, sanctions or PEP screening.
- Experience working within a law firm or regulated professional services organisation.
- An understanding of the UK legal and regulatory environment.
- A relevant compliance, legal, business or finance qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
