Head of Family – Flexible location

Are you an experienced Family Solicitor ready to take the next step into leadership, or an established team leader looking for a fresh challenge?

My client is a successful regional law firm, and they have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Family to lead, develop and grow its established Family department. The role can be based at any of their regoional offices in Harrogate, Ilkley, Skipton, Barnoldswick, Northallerton or Settle, with travel between locations as required and fully expensed. You'll also benefit from 2 days' home working each week.

This is a great opportunity to combine hands-on fee earning with leadership and management, working alongside a supportive team of 2 Senior Solicitors, an NQ, Trainee, Paralegal and Legal Assistant.

You'll take a hands-on role in the continued success of the department, with responsibility for:

• Leading and developing the Family team, providing support, guidance and effective people management.
• Driving departmental performance, with oversight of billing, fees, WIP, capacity and other key KPIs.
• Developing and delivering the department's strategy, aligned with the wider business objectives.
• Growing the department and developing new business, including referrals, networking and marketing activity.
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, training and career development across the team.
• Ensuring excellent client care, risk management and compliance across the department.
• Holding regular team and one-to-one meetings, encouraging collaboration, sharing knowledge and identifying development opportunities.
• Contributing to wider management and leadership discussions, helping shape the future direction of the business.
