We are seeking an Accredited Police Station Representative, who is looking to join a well-established and respected legal practice in Gateshead, other locations available.

Our client, has a proud heritage dating back to the late 1800s, is currently seeking a committed and confident professional to join their Criminal Defence team.

With offices in Bishop Auckland, Ferryhill, Sedgefield, and Spennymoor, they provide a broad range of legal services across Gateshead. They are proud to hold multiple accreditations, including membership in the Law Society’s Family Law, Children Law, and Mental Health Accreditation Schemes. Their team includes several members of Resolution, as well as accredited Police Station Representatives and Court Duty Solicitors.

As an Accredited Police Station Representative, you will:

  • Attend police stations weekly to provide legal advice and representation to clients across a variety of criminal matters
  • Offer telephone-based legal advice to individuals arrested for summary-only offences where interviews are not required
  • Ensure the highest standards of client care, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times
  • Work collaboratively with our wider Criminal Defence and Duty Solicitor team to deliver excellent legal support

Requirements

  • Police Station Accreditation under the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme (PSRAS)
  • Strong knowledge of criminal law and police station procedures
  • Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to attend police stations on a rota basis, including out-of-hours work where required
  • A commitment to upholding client confidentiality and delivering high-quality legal advice
