About the Role We are recruiting a Supervising Solicitor to lead and support a team of prison law practitioners. You’ll manage your own caseload while playing a key role in supervision, compliance, and team development. This is an opportunity to make a real difference — both to clients and your colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support prison law fee earners and consultants
  • Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) contract requirements
  • Conduct file reviews and monitor performance
  • Handle complex cases including parole, adjudications, recall, and categorisation
  • Provide training, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance
  • Maintain excellent standards of client care and service delivery
  • Contribute to audits, LAA reporting, and quality assurance
  • Oversee or assist with billing (including CRM18/exceptional cases)

About You

  • Qualified solicitor with 3+ years’ PQE in prison law
  • Supervisor status under the LAA’s Prison Law contract (or eligible)
  • Confident with legal aid funding and compliance processes
  • Proven ability to supervise or lead a team
  • Committed to access to justice, professional standards, and client care
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
