About the Role We are recruiting a Supervising Solicitor to lead and support a team of prison law practitioners. You’ll manage your own caseload while playing a key role in supervision, compliance, and team development. This is an opportunity to make a real difference — both to clients and your colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support prison law fee earners and consultants
- Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) contract requirements
- Conduct file reviews and monitor performance
- Handle complex cases including parole, adjudications, recall, and categorisation
- Provide training, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance
- Maintain excellent standards of client care and service delivery
- Contribute to audits, LAA reporting, and quality assurance
- Oversee or assist with billing (including CRM18/exceptional cases)
About You
- Qualified solicitor with 3+ years’ PQE in prison law
- Supervisor status under the LAA’s Prison Law contract (or eligible)
- Confident with legal aid funding and compliance processes
- Proven ability to supervise or lead a team
- Committed to access to justice, professional standards, and client care
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
