Criminal Defence Solicitor – London
Serious Cases. Serious Autonomy. Serious Support.
If you’re a Criminal Defence Solicitor who’s bored of bureaucracy, frustrated by lack of autonomy, or tired of feeling like just another case handler in a conveyor belt system — this is the role you’ve been waiting for.
We’re working with a standout London criminal defence practice that is growing fast, taking on high-quality work, and building a team of serious advocates who actually want to practise law properly.
This isn’t about volume-driven churn.
This is about proper defence work, proper client representation, and proper courtroom advocacy.
Why this role stands out
This is a firm where you will:
- Run your own caseload with real independence from day one
- Be trusted to make decisions — not micromanaged at every turn
- Have immediate access to senior support when you need it (not when it’s convenient for someone else)
- Spend real time in court doing what you trained for — advocacy, not admin overload
- Work on genuinely interesting and often high-profile criminal defence matters
You will be treated like a lawyer, not a file processor.
The work
You’ll handle a broad range of criminal defence matters including:
- Police station advice and representation
- Magistrates’ and Crown Court proceedings
- Serious and complex offences
- Bail applications and case management hearings
- Client strategy from investigation through to trial
You’ll have ownership of your cases and the space to actually lawyer — not just chase paperwork.
What makes this different
This is not a “burn you out and replace you” environment.
It’s built around:
- Real advocacy focus
- Sensible caseload management
- Direct access to experienced leadership
- A team that actually has your back in difficult cases
- A culture that values results and people
If you’re good at what you do, you’ll be trusted to do it.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is a qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor (or equivalent experience)
- Is confident in both police station and court advocacy
- Can run a caseload independently
- Cares about doing criminal defence properly
- Wants responsibility — not restriction
- Enjoys being in court and on their feet
Duty solicitor status is a bonus, but not essential.
Why now?
The firm is expanding because demand is growing — not because of churn.
