An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join a growing Family Law team at a well-established firm with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality legal services across the Midlands.
Working alongside the Head of Department and an experienced team — with dedicated support from a Legal Assistant — you’ll manage your own caseload of privately funded family law matters.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking candidates with at least 4 years of fee-earning experience in Family Law. You should be confident in handling a broad range of matters including:
- Divorce and financial remedy
- Private children disputes
- Pre- and post-nuptial agreements
- Cohabitation disputes
- Injunctive relief
Panel memberships (Law Society Family Panel and/or Resolution Accredited) would be a distinct advantage, though not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a caseload of complex, privately funded family law matters
- Conducting client meetings and progressing cases from instruction to resolution
- Preparing court documents, legal correspondence, and full attendance notes
- Undertaking advocacy and representing clients at court where necessary
- Time recording, billing, and meeting financial targets
- Engaging in business development and networking to build and maintain your caseload
- Ensuring compliance with internal procedures and Lexcel standards
- Contributing to departmental meetings and participating in peer file reviews
- Working flexibly and travelling between offices to meet business and client needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Minimum 4 years’ fee-earning experience in a Private Family department
- Strong knowledge of divorce, financial relief, and private law children matters
- Some familiarity with legal aid work (beneficial but not essential)
- Experience working to Lexcel standards
- Business development skills and a professional, personable approach
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems
