The firm undertakes a wide range of legally aided and private criminal defence work and is known for its practical, hands-on approach and strong client relationships.

With a traditional and structured working environment, the firm is committed to developing solicitors who are serious about building a long-term career in criminal law.

The firm is seeking a Newly Qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor – This is an excellent opportunity for an NQ solicitor looking to build a strong foundation in court work and magistrates’ court advocacy within a busy, supportive practice. You will be involved in all aspects of criminal defence work, including case preparation, client care, police station work, and regular attendance at the magistrates’ court.

The Candidate

• Newly qualified solicitor with a genuine ambition to specialise in criminal law
• Motivated, proactive, and keen to develop a strong court presence
• Strong criminal law background, with a minimum of 4 years’ prior experience in criminal practice (training contract, paralegal, or support roles preferred)
• Comfortable working within a traditional, structured law firm environment
• Excellent communication skills, client-focused, and able to manage a demanding caseload under pressure
