A leading Legal 500 and Chambers UK recognised law firm is offering an excellent opportunity for a Criminal Defence Solicitor to join its growing Crime Team based in St Albans.

The Role

You will join a dynamic Crime Team handling a full range of criminal defence work, including:

  • Advising and representing clients detained at police stations, including attendance and PACE interviews
  • Managing a broad and varied caseload covering all types of criminal offences
  • Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates' Court, including summary trials, with opportunities for Crown Court work where Higher Rights are held

About You

We are looking for a solicitor who:

  • Has a minimum of 1 year PQE in criminal law - NQs please apply 
  • Is ideally Duty Solicitor accredited - Training will be provided 
  • Has strong advocacy and communication skills
  • Can manage a busy caseload independently and efficiently
  • Is confident, organised and able to perform under pressure
  • Is IT proficient and comfortable using case management systems
  • Has a professional, pragmatic approach and a genuine commitment to publicly funded criminal defence work
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team, with strong client-facing skills
