Regulatory & Professional Discipline Solicitor

Work alongside leaders who lead from the front.

I’m working with a highly regarded litigation practice seeking a talented Regulatory & Professional Discipline Solicitor to join its specialist team.

This is an opportunity to join a firm where leadership is hands-on, standards are high, and the people at the top genuinely lead from the front. What particularly stands out is the firm’s commitment to the work it undertakes and the professionals it represents. There is a real sense of purpose behind what they do, advocating for individuals whose careers, reputations and livelihoods can be on the line.

You would work closely with a highly experienced department head, recognised for her formidable litigation expertise, strategic thinking and confident advocacy across criminal proceedings and professional misconduct matters.

With a strong reputation for representing police officers through Police Federation work, criminal investigations and professional misconduct proceedings, the team handles complex, sensitive and often high-stakes cases where sound judgement, discretion and robust representation are essential.

The Opportunity

The role will involve a varied and intellectually challenging caseload across regulatory and professional discipline matters, including:

  • Professional misconduct investigations and disciplinary proceedings.
  • Police misconduct cases, including matters arising both on and off duty.
  • Preparation for misconduct hearings, regulatory tribunals and fitness-to-practise proceedings.
  • Drafting detailed representations, witness statements and legal submissions.
  • Analysing evidence, identifying key issues and developing effective case strategies.
  • Advising and supporting clients through sensitive investigations and proceedings.
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, regulators and other relevant stakeholders.

You will have the opportunity to work on complex matters, contribute meaningfully to case strategy and develop your expertise alongside an experienced litigator and advocate.

Who Would Suit This Role?

I’m keen to speak with solicitors who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Regulatory and professional discipline.
  • Criminal defence and litigation.
  • Police misconduct and Police Federation matters.
  • Professional disciplinary tribunals or fitness-to-practise proceedings.

You’ll be a strong communicator with excellent analytical and drafting skills, sound professional judgement and the confidence to navigate sensitive matters.

Just as importantly, you’ll care about the work you do. You’ll understand that behind every case is a person, a career and often a great deal at stake.

Direct regulatory experience would be advantageous, but a strong criminal litigation background and a genuine interest in developing within professional regulation could also be a great fit.

Why Consider It?

This is about more than moving into another legal role.

It’s an opportunity to join a team where the leadership is actively involved in the work, expertise is shared, and advocacy is about standing up for clients when they need it most.

You’ll be working alongside people who take their responsibilities seriously, believe in the importance of the work they do and bring that conviction into the way they represent their clients.

For the right solicitor, this could be a genuinely rewarding next step.
