Senior Inquest Advocacy Solicitor

  • Manchester
  • Permanent
  • £45k - 75k per year

I'm working with a highly regarded national law firm that is looking to expand its specialist Healthcare Regulatory team. Due to continued growth, they're keen to speak with experienced Solicitors, Associates and Senior Associates who are looking to develop their careers within this increasingly interesting and specialist area of law.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established and well-respected team advising a prestigious client base across the healthcare sector, including NHS organisations, private healthcare providers, care homes and other health and care professionals.

The work is varied, often complex and can involve high-profile matters, giving you the opportunity to develop your expertise while working alongside experienced lawyers in a supportive and collaborative environment.

What's involved?

The role will have a particular focus on managing a caseload of inquest matters on behalf of NHS and other healthcare clients, with plenty of scope to become involved in wider healthcare advisory and regulatory work.

You'll have exposure to a broad range of work, including:

  • Managing your own caseload of inquest matters

  • Representing healthcare organisations at inquest hearings

  • Attending pre-inquest review hearings and undertaking advocacy

  • Preparing clients and witnesses for hearings

  • Advising on CQC investigations and prosecutions

  • Court of Protection applications

  • Mental Health Tribunal matters

  • Wider healthcare advisory issues, including consent, confidentiality, capacity, best interests and discharge arrangements

There is also the opportunity to get involved in work beyond your immediate caseload, allowing you to broaden your experience and build relationships across a diverse client base.

What are they looking for?

Ideally, you'll be a qualified Solicitor with around 4–10 years' PQE and a genuine interest in healthcare regulatory work.

They would particularly like to hear from lawyers who have experience in some of the following areas:

  • Healthcare or regulatory law

  • Inquests and inquest proceedings

  • Regulatory defence

  • Advocacy and court attendance

Previous inquest advocacy or healthcare experience would be advantageous, but they're also open to speaking with individuals who have transferable litigation experience and are keen to develop their expertise in this area.

You'll need to be confident managing your own workload, communicating with clients and working collaboratively with colleagues, while being comfortable taking responsibility for your own matters.

What's on offer?

  • The opportunity to join a well-established and growing specialist team

  • Exposure to a high-quality and varied healthcare regulatory caseload

  • A prestigious client base across the NHS and wider healthcare sector

  • Opportunities to develop your advocacy skills and experience

  • Hybrid working arrangements

  • Scope to broaden your expertise and progress your career

  • A collaborative team environment with access to complex and interesting work

Location: London, with hybrid working available. Some national travel will be required for hearings and client meetings.
