The Opportunity
A prestigious regional law firm is seeking a senior Private Client specialist to head up its well-established Private Client department based in Knowle, Solihull. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious and commercially minded leader to shape and develop a department that services a high-net-worth client base, with work spanning tax planning, trusts, estates, and complex wills and probate matters.
You will be taking ownership of a successful team, leading both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy, while continuing to provide exceptional client service and driving business development across the region.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Strategic Leadership

  • Define and deliver the strategic vision for the Private Client division
  • Set growth targets and implement operational improvements aligned with the firm’s wider objectives
  • Ensure robust compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements

🔹 Client Relationship Management

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of HNW and UHNW clients, delivering tailored advice and support
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for key referrals and high-profile client relationships
  • Promote a culture of discretion, trust, and service excellence

🔹 Team Leadership

  • Lead, inspire and manage a well-rounded team including solicitors, executives, and support staff
  • Conduct regular reviews, training and mentoring to ensure high standards of performance and development
  • Foster a collaborative, client-centric department culture

🔹 Business Development

  • Drive new instructions through networking, partnerships, and relationship management
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling across the firm’s other departments
  • Represent the firm at events, seminars and in thought leadership forums

About You

  • Minimum 10 years’ PQE in Private Client work, ideally with experience advising HNWIs and complex estates
  • Demonstrable leadership experience within a law firm or professional services environment
  • STEP qualification (or working towards) strongly preferred
  • Outstanding client handling, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commercially astute with a strategic mindset and strong business development track record
  • Deep technical expertise in estate planning, tax, trusts and probate matters
