Are you an ambitious and commercially astute Civil Litigation Solicitor looking for your next career move?

We are seeking a motivated Solicitor with 3-5 years' PQE to join our busy and growing Civil Litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working on a broad and varied caseload, taking ownership of their matters, and delivering practical, high-quality advice to clients.

You will have the opportunity to manage cases from initial instruction through to resolution and, where necessary, trial, while working closely with our Head of Department and contributing to the continued growth and success of the team.

The Role

As a Civil Litigation Solicitor, you will:

  • Manage your own varied caseload independently, from initial instruction through to final resolution, including trial where necessary.
  • Advise clients on a wide range of disputes, providing pragmatic, commercially sound, and strategic advice.
  • Draft a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, witness statements, applications, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct negotiations and represent clients at hearings where appropriate.
  • Ensure matters are progressed efficiently and in compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and court deadlines.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, and procedural developments.
  • Deliver an exceptional standard of client care and build strong, lasting client relationships.
  • Contribute to business development through networking, relationship building and converting enquiries into new instructions.
  • Support the Head of Department and assist with managing enquiries and matters in their absence.

Your Caseload

You will work across a diverse range of civil litigation matters, including:

  • Contractual disputes and breach of contract claims
  • Negligence claims
  • Debt recovery and related disputes
  • Residential housing litigation, acting predominantly for landlords in possession and disrepair matters
  • Property litigation, including boundary, easement, neighbour, nuisance, and adverse possession disputes
  • Insolvency-related matters, including statutory demands, bankruptcy petitions, and winding-up petitions
  • Interim and procedural applications, including summary judgment and applications to set aside default judgments
  • Advising on and negotiating employment settlement agreements, with a strong understanding of employment law fundamentals

What they're Looking For

Essential

You will be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 3-5 years' PQE and will have:

 

  • Proven experience managing a civil litigation caseload independently from start to finish.
  • A strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Experience handling matters across the Small Claims, Fast Track, Intermediate Track and Multi-Track.
  • A sound understanding of the applicable cost's recovery rules.
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication abilities.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical, client-focused advice.
  • Excellent client care skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • The confidence and ability to convert client enquiries into instructions.
