An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 2–5 PQE Court of Protection Solicitor to join a highly regarded and growing specialist team in Basingstoke.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work on high-quality, complex Court of Protection matters, while being part of a supportive team where you’ll have genuine responsibility for your own caseload.

The role

You’ll work across both Deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts, advising individuals, families, carers, trustees and other professionals.

The work is varied and often involves clients who have suffered catastrophic personal injury, including serious brain injury and high-value compensation awards.

You’ll manage your own caseload with appropriate supervision and support, acting as a key point of contact for clients and their families.

Your work will include:

  • Day-to-day management of clients’ financial affairs
  • Preparing routine and complex applications to the Court of Protection, including witness statements and supporting documentation
  • Supporting with the preparation of expert evidence and OPG reports
  • Ensuring matters comply with OPG Deputyship Standards
  • Liaising with clients, families, case managers and other professionals
  • Supporting senior members of the team on more complex matters
  • Working closely with a dedicated paralegal
  • Contributing to team processes and development
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team where appropriate
  • Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and their families

The team also gets involved in wider welfare matters, including care funding, welfare benefits, deprivation of liberty, special educational needs and capacity issues, making this a particularly varied area of Court of Protection work.

About you

We’re looking for a qualified solicitor with 2–5 years' PQE and experience in Court of Protection work.

You should ideally have:

  • Experience handling Court of Protection matters
  • Experience with Deputyships and/or Personal Injury Trusts
  • A good understanding of the OPG Deputyship Standards
  • The ability to manage your own caseload with supervision
  • Part or whole STEP qualification would be advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Good judgement and confidence in knowing when to seek support
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build relationships with clients and professionals
  • An interest in business development and developing your professional profile

What’s on offer?

  • Competitive salary
  • Hybrid working
  • A genuinely specialist Court of Protection team
  • High-quality and complex work
  • Exposure to Deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts
  • Support from experienced senior lawyers and dedicated paralegal resource
  • Opportunities to develop your own caseload and client relationships
  • A collaborative and supportive working environment
  • Excellent career development opportunities
  • The chance to work with clients and families where the work you do has a genuine long-term impact

This is an opportunity to join an established and growing team where client care is genuinely at the centre of the work, while developing your expertise across a broad range of Court of Protection matters.
