The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's leading and most highly regarded Court of Protection teams. This Top 100 UK law firm is recognised by both The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners for its expertise in Court of Protection work and is home to one of the country's largest specialist teams in this area.

Acting for hundreds of clients nationwide, the team supports vulnerable adults and children, their families, carers and professional networks with Property & Financial Affairs Deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts. You'll be joining a collaborative, supportive environment where you'll work alongside experienced Partners and specialists, gaining exposure to high-quality, rewarding work while developing your own career.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor or someone with up to three years' PQE who has a genuine interest in Court of Protection and is looking to build their expertise within a nationally recognised team.

The Role

Working closely with senior lawyers and other professionals, you will assist in managing Deputyship and Trust matters while gradually building your own caseload under supervision.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management of Property & Financial Affairs Deputyship matters.
  • Managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision.
  • Preparing Court of Protection applications and annual Deputy Reports.
  • Supporting the day-to-day management of clients' financial affairs, including budgeting, payments and property transactions.
  • Assisting with the administration of Personal Injury Trusts.
  • Liaising with clients, families, case managers, healthcare professionals and other professional contacts.
  • Working alongside paralegals, litigators and other internal teams to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
  • Attending client meetings and visits where appropriate.
  • Developing your knowledge of statutory wills, care funding and welfare benefits.
  • Supporting business development and helping to build long-term client and professional relationships.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 0–3 years' PQE.
  • A genuine interest in Court of Protection Property & Financial Affairs work.
  • Excellent communication and client care skills, with the ability to build rapport with vulnerable clients and professional contacts.
  • Strong drafting, organisational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritise a varied workload and work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A proactive, adaptable and enthusiastic approach.
  • Experience using case management systems and recording time is advantageous.
