Role: Credit Hire Solicitor / CILEX / Experienced Fee Earner

Location: Southport / Hybrid / Remote

Department: Credit Hire

Salary: Circa £35,000

Job Type: Permanent - Full Time

Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Credit Hire Fee Earner to join a growing litigation team. Due to an increase in caseload, the department is expanding and seeking a motivated individual to handle a litigated fast-track caseload on behalf of Claimants.

This role requires a confident litigator who can manage files independently from issue through to settlement or trial.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a full caseload of litigated credit hire matters
  • Handle Part 7 claims from issue to conclusion
  • Work within the DCP (Damages Claims Portal)
  • Review files and determine case strategy
  • Assess liability and quantum, review offers, and make settlement offers
  • Draft reports in line with Credit Hire Organisation (CHO) requirements
  • Liaise with Defendant solicitors, insurers, and CHOs
  • Take client and witness statements
  • Draft court documentation and correspondence
  • Prepare and draft witness statements
  • Negotiate settlements
  • Instruct Counsel where appropriate
  • Prepare cases for trial

Additional Duties

  • Maintain and update Management Information (MI) spreadsheets
  • Provide support on colleagues' files where required (e.g. holiday cover)

About You

Applications are invited from candidates with:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience managing litigated credit hire files, or RTA caseloads with a strong credit hire element
  • Experience acting for either Claimant or Defendant clients
  • A strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and relevant case law
  • The ability to manage a caseload independently
  • Experience using case management systems and self-generating documentation

Litigation experience is essential for this role.

Candidate Requirements

 

  • Proven experience in a similar credit hire or RTA litigation role
  • Strong knowledge of CPR and current credit hire issues
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent client care skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT and keyboard skills
