Employment Solicitor

Location: Lancashire (Hybrid Working Available)

Hours: Full-time, 36.25 hours per week

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join a well-established and highly regarded Employment team. This role offers the chance to work within a supportive and collaborative environment, advising primarily public sector clients on a broad range of employment law matters.

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload while working closely with experienced colleagues on complex and high-profile matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of employment law matters, primarily for public sector clients including those within the education, housing and local authority sectors.
  • Advising on a broad range of employment issues, including settlement agreements.
  • Representing clients at Employment Tribunal hearings, including cases involving:
    • Unfair dismissal
    • Discrimination
    • TUPE
    • Redundancy
    • Safeguarding issues

     

  • Providing clear, practical legal advice to clients and maintaining effective communication with tribunals, opponents and third parties.
  • Representing clients at internal hearings, including disciplinary, grievance, dismissal and appeal proceedings, as well as conducting workplace investigations.
  • Supporting colleagues on complex matters and contributing to the wider objectives of the team.
  • Delivering employment law training and presentations to clients and external organisations.
  • Working collaboratively with senior lawyers on complex and strategic cases.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships while contributing to business development initiatives.

About You

Essential

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent) with up to 4 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Previous experience within an employment law team.
  • Experience handling Employment Tribunal litigation.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of employment law matters, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE and redundancy.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines and work collaboratively within a team.
  • A professional approach with strong client care and communication skills.

Desirable

  • Previous advocacy experience.
  • Experience advising public sector clients, particularly within education, housing or local government.
  • Experience delivering training or presentations to clients.
