Litigation Secretary
Location: Southport
Full-time | Office-based
My client is currently recruiting for an experienced and highly organised Litigation Secretary to join a well-established legal practice in Southport.
This is a full-time, office-based position offering the opportunity to work within a professional and supportive legal environment. The successful candidate will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners within the Litigation department.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Litigation fee earners
- Preparing, formatting and proofreading legal correspondence, court documents, witness statements, and other legal documentation
- Managing diaries, arranging appointments, and coordinating meetings
- Handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls, emails, and correspondence professionally
- Opening, maintaining, and closing client files in line with firm procedures
- Managing electronic and paper filing systems and ensuring files are accurate and up to date
- Preparing court bundles and supporting the organisation of case documentation
- Liaising with clients, courts, counsel, experts and other third parties
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of legal forms and documentation
- Monitoring key dates, deadlines, and appointments
- Supporting fee earners with case management and general administrative duties
- Undertaking audio and copy typing as required
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, Litigation Secretary or Legal Assistant
- Experience supporting fee earners within a Litigation or Dispute Resolution department
- Strong audio and copy typing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively to deadlines
- A professional and client-focused approach
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team
