We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our prestigious Newcastle city centre office on a part-time basis. This role offers flexibility, with working hours of either four half days per week or two full days per week, supporting our busy and friendly Corporate Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with previous legal secretarial experience who enjoys working in a professional, client-focused environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Department, your responsibilities will include:

  • Audio and copy typing with a high degree of accuracy
  • Preparing, formatting and amending legal documents
  • Maintaining and filing documents, both electronically and in hard copy
  • Liaising professionally with clients and acting as a first point of contact where required
  • Handling legal documentation and correspondence
  • Preparing mail, bundles and disclosure documents for dispatch
  • Managing diaries, arranging meetings and scheduling appointments
  • Providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to our lawyers

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a legal secretarial role within a law firm (essential)
  • Excellent typing speed and accuracy
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and word processing systems
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Outstanding organisational, communication and time management skills
  • A good understanding of legal terminology and legal documentation
